Personalised medicine aims to provide tailored preventive care, diagnostics and patient monitoring based on an individual’s genetic make-up, history and available treatments. The EU-funded TeamPerMed project will support the University of Tartu (UT) and Tartu University Hospital (UTH) in creating a Centre of Excellence in personalised medicine. The centre will become an internationally recognised leader in personalised medicine, using genomic and electronic health data and developing AI tools and protocols to enable the prevention of development of chronic or hereditary disease. With earlier diagnoses and more effective therapies, it holds great promise for improving the well-being and quality of life of individuals while reducing healthcare costs.
