Summer School on digital governance

ECePS ERA Chair Summer School on Building Digital Governments

The Summer School will be hosted by University of Tartu, in collaboration with University of Konstanz, Harvard University, Erasmus University Rotterdam, KU Leuven, and City of Tartu.

Credits: 4 ECTS, possibility to extend to 6 ECTS

Time: August 1-14, 2022


The Summer School focus is on how building up digital governance works in practice. It will give a theoretical and practical overview of electronic democracy mechanisms and how both e-democracy and e-government can be applied in modern governance situations.

The objective is to expose the latest trends that will be important for democracy and governance over the coming decades. The programme is explicitly focused on e-government solutions and applications such as cloud-based services, predictive services, blockchain, e-voting but also covers the normative challenges that these present.

Deadline for applications is on June 19th 2022.

» You will understand the essential dimensions of digital democracy and governance

» You will have an overview of key electronic means for political participation and inclusion

» You will be familiar with the essential structures and platforms of e-government

» You will be aware of how both e-democracy and e-government can be applied in modern governance situations.

 

About the Course

The intensive blended course will be comprised of virtual learning and 1 week on-site in Tartu. Each week, there will be lectures, seminars, individual readings and group assignments.
