Presenting our work on Cyber security

Logan Carmichael, our junior research fellow has spread the word about the interesting work she is doing as part of her research on cyber security and digital governmental services.

Ms Carmichael participated in the NATO CyCon - International Conference on Cyber Conflict on 30 May-3 June 2023 in Tallinn, Estonia; She had an honour to lead the team lead of volunteers, who assisted with various organising responsibilities, registration, liaising with speakers/distinguished guests, etc. This gave good opportunities to network with the top names in the cyber security field as well as learn how things work in the behind the scenes of organising such a large and internationally important event.

Ms Carmichael participated in the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Global Summit on 6-7 September, 2023, in Tallinn, Estonia. In addition to learning about the latest developments and participating in the discussions, she had the pleasure to meet the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize winner and keynote at the OGP summit Maria Ressa, who is a Filipino journalist who was repeatedly targeted by the Duterte regime. She co-won the 2021 Peace Prize with Dmitry Muratov, formerly of Novaya Gazeta, and her book is called “How to Stand Up to a Dictator,” an incredible read with a particularly digital focus.
